The 'correct' Dutch phrase for More of the same is, literlal translated: A suit from the same sheet. But the 'Flemish' phrase is more relevant in this case: Pants from the same sheet (also literal translated for More of the same). This one I used as (Dutch) tile for this article. A while ago I bought some fabrics on the Middelbug market. The blue fabrics I used to make a blouse and a diaper cover for the son. I didn't have a purpose for the fabric with the flowers at that time. I just liked the fabric.
Tot ik deze tutorial tegen kwam. Dat vond ik zo'n leuk broekje! Dus, ik pakte het patroon, dat ik eerder gemaakt had voor een lange broek voor de dochter. Maakte er een patroon voor een korte broek van en paste hem aan voor de knoop die er in moest. Tijdens het maken van de broek heb ik verschillende keren gedacht dat het compleet ging mislukken... Maar uiteindelijk is het allemaal prima gelukt!
Until I found this tutorial.I just liked those shorts! So, I used the pattern for long pants for the daughter, I made earlier. I transformed it into a pattern for shorts, and adjusted it for the knot. While sewing the shorts, I have tought several times it would fail completely... But finaly it worked out fine!
Nu kostte dit broekje niet zo heel veel stof. Ik had dus nog een behoorlijke lap over. Toen kwam ik in een Stiched by You een leuk patroon tegen voor een blouse voor mijzelf. Ik wilde de blouse combineren met een rode rok die ik eerder maakte. Omdat de rok effen is, wilde ik een blouse met opdruk. Toch heb ik nog lang getwijfeld of dit stofje wel geschikt was voor een blouse voor mij. Zou het niet te tuttig of te kinderachtig zijn? Uiteindelijk toch maar gewoon gedaan, en het resultaat mag er zijn, vind ik zelf...
The shorts didn't take much fabric. I still had enough fabric for an other project. Then I saw a nice pattern for a blouse for me in a Stiched by You. I wanted to combine the blouse with a skirt I made earlier. Becouse the skirt is self-coloured, I wanted a blouse with a print. Yet I did hesitate if the fabric was suiteble for me. Wouldn't it be to fussy or childish? Finaly I just did it, and I'm happy with the result...
Zo zie je maar weer. Van dezelfde stof een blouse voor mij en een broek voor de dochter: Van hetzelfde laken een broek :)
So, from the same fabric a blouse for me and shorts for the daughter: Pants from the same sheet (or, as the proper translation should be: More of the same).
