When I bought a fabric for Z's birthday dress at Sew Natural, I was seduced to by this fabric for S. I already had in mind what I would make with it: a T-shirt with short raglan sleeves. I diligenty started to drew a pattern. Then the Knippie arrived, and in it stood a T-shirt with short raglan sleeves. So I decided not to make it hard on myself and use this pattern as a base.
I did alter some details in the pattern, starting with the neckline. In the original pattern there is a split between the front and one of the sleeves. I didn't like this and I guessed the neckline would be wide enough to fit over S's head. As I could have easily made this dress without the split, I dared to take this gamble. Well, it turned out wide enough, it even could be made a bit more narrow.
When finishing the hem, the strip at the bottom should be sewn on top of the the shirt. When fitting, I found the shirt a bit short. So I decided to fold the strip and sew it as an extention on the shirt.
In the end I only used the original pattern as a base. This shirt is a bit wider and shorter then I had hoped for. Maybe next time I'll make my own pattern al along...? S is just very happy with his bear-shirt, and that's what is important, isn't it?
