I had a favorite skirt. A half-circle-strips-skirt, length just above the knee. It only was a bit to wide. Secretly I did put a safety pin in it, so it would stay up on my narrow hips. Yes, I was to lazy to fix this problem with the sewing machine. And now it did get worn out. Time to get something new. But I couldn't find a simmilar skirt. Sounds familiar?
Inmiddels heb ik twee cursussen patroontekenen afgerond. Een halve cirkelrok is nu niet direct het moeilijkste patroon dat je kan bedenken, dus besloot ik er eentje zelf te maken. De kleuren had ik al in mijn hoofd. Daarom koos ik voor de stof die ik eerder bij de Stoffenkamer kocht: Colourful van Poppy (donkerblauw met bloemetjes), gecombineerd met effen geel. Ik wil de rok vanaf het voorjaar kunnen dragen, dus heb ik hem gevoerd met dunne witte katoen, zodat ik er een panty onder kan dragen.
De rok verdeelde ik in stroken. Tussen deze stroken heb ik stroken van de effen gele katoen genaaid. Dit deed ik niet aan de zijnaden.
In the meantime I finished two classes of patterndesigning. A half circle skirt isn't the hardest pattern you could tink of. So I decided to make one by my self. I already had the colours in mind, so I choose a fabric I bought before at De Stoffenkamer: Colourful by Poppy (dark blue with flowers) and combinded it with a plain yellow cotton. I want to wear the skirt from Spring, so I lined it with a thin white cotton, so I can wear the skirt with tights.
I devided the skirt in strips. Between those strips I sewed strips of the plain yellow cotton. Only on the sides I didn't.
De rok heeft een blinde rits. Nog nooit een blinde rits ingezet, dus dat heb ik tijdens een naailes gedaan. En het resultaat is niet slecht voor een eerste keer (vind ik).
This skirt has an invisible zipper. I never sewed an invisible zipper, so I sewed this one at a sewing class. For a first timer the result is nice (I think).
De voering en de andere stof worden bovenaan de rok bij elkaar gehouden door biaisband dat ik maakte van de Colourful stof.
The lining and upper fabric hold togheter by baistape I made from the Colourful fabric.
De onderkant van de buitenste rok heb ik ook met dit biaisband afgewerkt.
The bottom of the outher skirt I finished with the same baistape.
De voering heb ik verder afgewerkt met een lockmachine, tijdens de naailes. Ik denk dat ik de voering nog om moet zomen, maar dat bekijk ik pas als ik hem kan passen. Dat lukt nu niet met m'n dikke buik. Ik ga er vanuit dat ik hem volgend voorjaar wel aan kan. Bij mijn vorige zwangerschappen ben ik ook al mijn zwangerschapskilo's (en meer) kwijt geraakt. Dat zal me nu toch wel weer lukken? ;)
I finished the lining with a serger during the sewing class. I guess I have to hem the lining, but I'll do this when I'm able to fit the skirt. That's not going to happen with my big pregnant belly. I think I'll be able to fit it next spring. After my last two pregnancies I lost all the pregnancy weight (and more). I will manage that too this time, won't I? ;)
